ARS: Agricultural Research Service (for the post of Scientist in ICAR Institutions)

NET: National Eligibility Test (for the post of Lecturer or Assistant Professor in Agricultural Universities)


Age Limits

For National Eligibility Test

  • An applicant must have minimum age of 21 years. There is no upper age limit for National Eligibility Test

For Agricultural Research Service

  • Applicants applying for ARS examination should be between 21 years and 32 years.

  • SC / ST applicants have maximum of 5 years of upper age limit.

  • Maximum upper age limit is 3 years in case of OBC.

  • 10 years for physically challenged people.

  • Candidates with Ph.D degree have maximum upper age limit of 35 years.

  • SC / ST applicants with Ph.D Degree have upper age limit of 40 years.

  • For OBC applicants it is 38 years.

  • For physically challenged it is 45 years

Educational Qualification

ARS / NET Examination requires a post graduate in the concerned subjects along with defined specialization. For ARS Main Examination a candidate should be a Post Graduate or equivalent in concerned subject.
 

Number of Attempts

An applicant M.Sc and Ph.D can apply four times to the Agricultural Research Service Examination. Number of attempts is not applicable for SC / ST applicants who are otherwise eligible.
